As many parents, teachers and tutors know, it can be very frustrating to observe a student who is willing and able to engage fully and creatively when they are stuck at a level in gaming,
but not so much, or at all, with their academic challenges...
but not so much, or at all, with their academic challenges...
Successfully helping young learners become enthusiastic and fully engaged lifetime learners requires us to find ways to enable them to find convincing answers to a critical question all successful lifetime learners must answer:
“Why should I try hard when it gets hard?”
Challenge Master is designed to provide students the experiential evidence they will need to answer this question. It is a game based interactive tutorial that teaches students, beginning in the third grade, how to become more enthusiastic, engaged, and effective learners. Graduates will have refined and strengthened their gaming persistence, motivation and creative problem solving when stuck and be able to apply what they have learned to their academics, sports and other challenging activities.
The Challenge Master Program
1. Students learn how to use a skill-set that can quickly help them become more successful gamers. These skills are specific, individualized, and their power to help at challenge points can be experientially validated.
2. Then, after they have learned and practiced and tested these skills in gaming, we show them how to use these same skills in their academics as well.
3. The result is that each student will have access to an individualized gaming and academics app customized by the student themselves as they go through the Challenge Master program.
4. Students become Challenge Masters by completing the first of five interactive tutorials. Each skills building tutorial has been designed for optional step-by-step adult participation on a separate but parallel track.
